What to wear?
The session will usually include an element of therapeutic stretching so the best clothing to wear is sports/running shorts or short leggings and a vest or t-shirt that you can remove easily if I work on your back and neck. Underwear is also perfectly fine, any areas not being worked on will be covered in large towels, allowing modesty and warmth for the duration of the treatment.
Will it hurt?
It is a common myth that sports injury is painful. Sure, if I am working around an injury it can sometimes be a little uncomfortable but working within the pain thresholds of the client is key to delivering a successful therapy session and comfort is everything. It's counterproductive to the treatment for the client to feel uncomfortable and I always 'check in' with clients regarding the level of pressure to apply during the session!
Do you have changing facilities?
Yes, we have a private changing room and WC. This means you can come to us before or after work, bringing your change of clothes with you if you wish.
Can I bring a chaperone?
Yes, 100%. Some people can be nervous or anxious on their first or any visit so please feel free to bring a friend or relative if it helps.
Where are you based?
I am based at Body Matters on Steyning High Street, opposite the White Horse pub. The easiest place to park is the public car park on the high street. There is free parking in the surrounding streets. To book to see me in Steyning please call Body Matters on 01903 813500 or contact me by phone, text or WhatsApp on 07912629428.
What if I am late for my appointment?
We understand that sometimes, lateness is unavoidable so we try to be as flexible as possible. If you are running late just let us know. If we have another client booked in directly after you then your appointment may need to be shortened but if time allows free, you'll receive your full treatment.
How can I pay?
We prefer card payment but also accept cash or bank transfer. We accept all card types including amex.
If you're unsure about booking a sports massage or have any concerns you'd like to discuss before you come, please get in touch!

Deep tissue massage is an inclusive therapy and not just for exercise addicts! Whether you have a physical job or hobby or are inactive for long periods of time due to your job or personal circumstance, you can benefit from a bit of massage maintenance every now and then. Deep tissue massage helps your body recover from the strain you put on your muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons from doing a lot or fairly little exercise. Deep tissue massages improve blood flow to your muscles by stimulating the circulatory system. You’ll get an influx of oxygen-rich blood, which helps flush out the byproducts of activity or inactivity, and delivers fresh nutrients. Regular massage helps rejuvenate tired and muscles, reduce injury risk and hopefully enable you live your life less tense and free of pain.

I joined the Body Matters team in 2020 and have since built up a strong reputation within the surrounding community as the therapist to visit if in need of soft tissue tension release and maintenance.
I specialise in Deep Tissue Sports Massage techniques to assist with a wide variety of muscular issues including tension and stress, soft tissue injuries, sports injuries, mobility and joint pain, back pain, post-operative rehabilitation and work based stress. I provide bespoke maintenance for all ages and abilities. Our youngest clients are in their 20's and oldest in their 70's, you're never too old to benefit from some therapy to keep you feeling fresh and ready for your next adventure.
Only sporty people?
No, sports massage isn't just for sporty people! I look after many different types of client, some of whom aren't involved in sport at all. Some come to us for mobility and flexibility issues, some for tension release in the back, shoulders and neck and some just for a deep tissue massage that includes assisted stretching and a bit of help with movement and circulation.
Massage helps with mobility, blood flow, flexibility and tension and is often used by people affected by mobility through injury, lifestyle and age.

Guy’s client base is extremely diverse as it’s not only sporty people who get niggles, tension or muscle stress. Deep tissue therapy is beneficial to everyone, regardless of age, fitness or activity levels.
In Guy’s experience, clients are just as likely to develop muscular or mobility issues from working at a PC, balancing a busy home life, having a stressful job or leading a sedentary lifestyle as they are from running, cycling or playing sport.
